ComedySportz is a family-friendly all-ages improvisational comedy show. Using audience suggestions the red team and blue team compete for the audience's laughter and approval. The audience is the ultimate winner when our "actaletes" compete.
ComedySportz started in Wisconsin in 1984. In 1990 ComedySportz was brought to the Quad Cities by Denny Hitchcock at Circa 21. Jeff Adamson managed the group for years until Jeff and his sons Patrick and Jim took ownership of ComedySportz and brought it to the Establishment Theatre in Downtown Rock Island in 2010. ComedySportz Quad Cities shut down from the fall of 2019 until November 2022 when veteran performer Bob Kelly and his wife Kasey purchased the franchise and relaunched ComedySportz. "Brent and Sarah Tubbs have grown The Spotlight Theatre into a go-to place for theater in the Quad Cities, with shows and classes for theater lovers of all ages. Combined with Brent's 20 years of history in ComedySportz, we knew this would be a successful partnership that would benefit the Quad Cities community." Kelly says. The Spotlight Studio Space is in the lower level of the Spotlight Theatre.
